Public Practice alumna Jeseca Dawson (’12) was selected as the Ben Maltz Gallery Curatorial Fellow for 2012-14. She recently curated Glued to the Seat: Revealing Hidden Realities, which showed in the Bolsky Gallery this summer.
“Glued to the Seat presents the work of six artists who use narrative elements to reveal hidden truths and confront deep-rooted stereotypes.Through the guise of history, cultural traditions or personal experience, these provocative artists use authorship to expose oppressive stigmas and question sources.”
All participating artists were Otis alumni: Lili Bernard (’14 MFA Public Practice), Channing Martinez (’13 Fine Arts), Jessica Minckley (’13 MFA Fine Arts), Silvia Juliana Mantilla Ortiz (’13 MFA Public Practice), Hyung min Rhee (’13 MFA Fine Arts), and Susan Slade Sanchez (’13 MFA Public Practice).
