Amy Bouse is a painter and photographer who lives in Culver City. On a recent visit to her studio, located in her home, we found her excited about her most recent series of paintings which are based on basketball, a sport that she confesses is a totally new interest. Bouse, who has been a teacher at Santa Monica High School for 15 years, says she was inspired when she attended one of her student’s basketball games and now finds herself consumed with the forces at work involved with the game. With her background in photography, her work seems to speak of moments in time. Using special pastels, markers and acrylic paints she creates an ever moving rhythm of mark making. She received her B.F.A from UC San Diego and her M.A from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
