Curtis Weaver – Culver City – 11/14/2013

Curtis Weaver is a multi-media artist who melds science fiction and art by creating a living creature that reaches through many facets often attributed to the human race.  His creatures might be faceless, but are made up of biological elements such as tongues and lips, as well as tree branches and fluids.  They are then propelled into evolving, as any living species is; facing survival, reproduction, extinction, etc.  The work reflects the questions of existence such as: how did we get here and for what purpose?  This perspective also allows the viewer to explore their own limitations on life; and at what point they legitimize a creature – human, animal, plant.
