Juan Capistràn’s studio is among the many on West Exposition Blvd, where the new Metro train runs from USC to Culver City. Here, Capistràn creates, “multidisciplinary projects that question notions of class, identity, power and revolution.” Capistràn was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and grew up in South Central Los Angeles. He received his BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 1999 and his MFA from the University of California at Irvine in 2002. His current solo show, After Chaos Comes Eros…he is stronger than his rock (I could be happy), opened at CURRO & PONCHO gallery in Jalisco, Mexico on October 24, 2013 and closes January 10, 2014.
