New O-Space feature! You can now manage comment settings for an entire e-Portfolio. You can even apply these settings to all of your existing e-Portfolios.
You can decide who may leave a comment on your e-portfolio – no one; other people in the Otis community; or the general public. You can also choose whether to have the comments appear immediately or to moderate every comment. Lastly, you can hide all comments from visitors.
The default settings are:
Allow Comments From: Registered Users
Show Comments: Do not show comments until they have been approved
Comments appear at the bottom of every page in an e-Portfolio. To change the settings (as well as moderate new comments), scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Settings tab. Choose the options you want and click the Save button.
In your e-Portfolio, go to Portfolio Tools > Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the page. There is a new section for Comments.
The default settings are to allow comments only from Registered Users and to hold comments for moderation. Choose the options you want and click the Save button.
Your Profile – Global Settings
To apply these comments settings to all of your e-Portfolios, including new ones, go to your user profile by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner of O-Space.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Comment Settings section.
The same settings appear here as in the other places. However, there is a new option to apply these settings to all of your e-Portfolios. Check the box next to Apply to existing e-Portfolios.
The settings in your profile will be applied to any new e-Portfolios that you create. You can override these global settings by changing the settings on an individual e-Portfolio (see above.)
If you choose to moderate comments, click on the Manage Comments tab. If there are any comments awaiting moderation, a note in red will appear. You can either approve or delete the comment. Once deleted, there is no way to restore the comment.
You can also moderate comments using your e-Portfolio’s site map. Click on the number in the Comments column and the table will expand to list the comments on that page.
