TATIANA BILBAO, the 2016-2017 Donghia Designer-in-Residence, invited her Master Class jury as well as Alina Escarcega and Roberta Barcena from the Educational Cooperation Department of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles to select Master Class projects for recognition and cash awards.
The jury (Valery Augustin, Principal, DNA | Architecture + Design; Annie Chu, Principal, CHU+GOODING; Frank Clementi, Partner, Rios Clementi Hale Studios; Chava Danielson, Principal, DSH \\ architecture; Ed Ogosta, Principal, Ed Ogosta Architecture; Nick Seierup, Design Director, Perkins + Will, Los Angeles; and Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter, Principal, WROAD), Alina Escarcega, and Roberta Barcena selected three students’ projects as follows.
Juan Febres-Cordero – 1st Place/$400
Ibrahim Ghulam – 2nd Place/$200
Wei Qiu – 3rd Place/$100
The Master Class project, “Xochimilco,” was a large format collage that represented students’ proposals for “responsible urban regeneration, that would maintain Xochimilco’s historic legacy as a place of farming and recreation while adapting it to a symbiotic relationship with the encroaching urban tissue.” – TATIANA BILBAO
