Hosted by the American Society of Landscape Architecture’s Southern California Chapter every other year, the Quality of Life Awards “…is designed to celebrate professional excellence by recognizing the firms, individuals, and agencies responsible for outstanding works of landscape architecture and environmental planning that promote an enhanced quality of life in Southern California and beyond.”

The 2014 Quality of Life Design Awards: “Landscape Architecture, A Story of Generations” Gala and Presentation was held on October 23, 2014, at the Ebell Club in Long Beach.

Rios Clementi Hale Studios‘ project, Slide, their “…progressive design for stabilizing Southern California regions prone to fire, flood, and mudslides, took home a Merit Award in the category of ‘Concepts, Ideas, and Theories.’ The jury lauded this entry for its ‘science-based approach.’ Jurors also appreciated that the project ‘recognizes issues that have not previously been addressed in [such a] creative, forward-thinking way.'”
