Building Technology class toured Emerson College Los Angeles

Architecture/Landscape/Interiors’ Building Technology students (Diana Gonong, Shadi Hashemi, Jacob Hoffman, Suna Jaen, Merve Onur, Ju Sung Park, Izzy Savage and Nyann Swain-Welborn) with their instructor, Greg Kochanowski, toured the future Emerson College Los Angeles, by Morphosis, which is currently under construction in Hollywood, at Sunset and Gordon.

Aaron Ragan (Morphosis’ Site Representative as well as Design Team Member for Emerson College) led the tour and provided information regarding the project’s design and construction, including the steel-framed academic volumes, concrete residential wings with automatized sun-screens and metal scrims, and castellated beams that support the helipad.

Students in A/L/I’s required Building Technology class study the materials (wood, steel, concrete, masonry, etc.) and methods of building construction, construction systems and basic structural principles through readings, discussions, field trips and projects.
