Les Biller’s paintings are a mixture of cityscapes, figurative expressionism and still lifes. Using the playful bright colors of Matisse and the romantic golden spectrum of Gauguin, his paintings come alive with images that move through a world of fantasy. Currently he is working on a series that is based on the spa and bathers which he says has always been a subject he wanted too explore through his practice. Growing up in Los Angeles he has had a long art career and had his first show in 1957. His studio is located on West Adams across from The Cork, a bar/lounge landmark in a neighborhood that inspires much of his recent work. Biller talked about the upcoming expansion of his studio that will make room for a gallery.
