Otis Email Password Manager

Has this ever happened to you? You are at home and need to check your Otis Webmail, but you cannot remember that darn password. Good news – you no longer need to schlep to campus and find the right person to change it. Instead use the new Password Manager.

First, you’ll need to set up a challenge question. It is similar to the Forgot PIN? utility for Self Service, except you do not get to create your own question. Instead, choose from an existing list, such as “What is your father’s middle name?”

Then, if you forget your password in the future, you will have to answer this question correctly in order to reset it. Just go to the Password Manager and click on the “Forgot your password?” link.

Students, faculty and staff can all use the Password Manager. For more detailed information about this service, please go to its IS web page. See also this help page on Usernames and Passwords.

The email password is used for logging into:

  • Otis Webmail
  • O-Space
  • OtisDID
  • Library databases via the Proxyserver
  • Campus computers
  • Campus wifi networks

Alas, the Password Manager does not affect your Blogosphere account password. We are working on getting these synched up, but the earliest it could happen would be in summer 2011.
