Banned Books Week

What do Hop on Pop by Dr Seuss, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse have in common?

All three of these books were challenged in 2014, either by parents or school districts asking libraries to withdraw copies from their shelves.

During Banned Books Week, the American Library Association focuses attention on challenged books like these and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of a diversity of viewpoints to all who wish to read them.
